Behind

I had imagined it, nothing crept toward me, I didn't hear a thud but the footsteps around my door was there.

“Arielle?” I heard his voice, and relief washed over me.

At least it wasn't a monster.

I opened the door and came face to face with him. It was only when he moved into the room that I saw a maid was behind him but his large frame had concealed her.

Dropping off whatever she was carrying in that tray, she eyed me before hurrying out of the room. It was only then I came to the realization that I had stripped off my dress and was wrapped In sheets.

My face burned.

I looked up at the Lycan King to see if he was staring at me inappropriately but he was looking everywhere in the room except at me and when he finally looked at me, his eyes didn't roam.

I thought he was such a gentleman but what if it wasn't about being a gentleman? what if he didn't find me attractive at all? and it hurt.

What if he thought of himself as better than me? I told myself that it didn't matter but it did.
