Chapter 16

Anna

My mind didn't register quickly what I was seeing, until Justin and Wendy had walked into the restaurant. One problem was the area where Danny and I had been seating was a clear view form the door. I immediately ducked under the table, hoping I hadn't been caught yet. Another problem was that the tables were just table tops, they didn't have any coverings at the side.

As they walked towards the front counter to order, I grabbed my bag, looking around for Danny. I couldn't find him, but I couldn't wait, so I decided to wait outside. I crawled from under the table, and looked for the safest path, but the only way was directly behind them. I decided to try out my luck and passed behind Wendy who was basically standing in the way. I was able to successfully pass her and was about to walk out the door when I heard Danny's voice.

"Hey, Anna. Where are you going?!" He shouted from the direction of our table.
