Grace's POV I took agonizingly slow steps to Ashton's office as I didn't want to see his face so soon. Why does he always have to bug me? Upon reaching his office, I gently knocked on the door that was answered with a soft 'come in'. Twisting the knob, I entered the quiet room. "You called me Mr Knight?" Ashton looked up from his laptop and nodded while pointing at the chair, asking me to sit. I obliged to the offer. "Update me on the project," he said while continuing to punch some keys on his laptop. I told him all that he needed to know. I informed him that Stephen had been a great source of help for the project as he had skillfully done all the tasks that were given to him. But as soon as those words left my mouth, I saw his jaw clenching and his fingers folding to form a tight clenched fist. I paused for a bit to see why he was acting that way, but continued after finding no apparent reason. But then he suddenly interrupted me. "I called you here to hear what you had to s
Grace's POV My last encounter with Ashton was way more than weird. The way he acted, almost actually made me forgive him. I know it's all just an act. Then why does my heart say something else? Is he really sorry for what he did? But why should I consider his apologies? He thinks everyone is just an insect under his dirty feet that he can so likely cripple and walk away without having to care. Damn! Why am I even thinking about it? I have seriously lost my mind. Getting up, I wrapped all my things as it was time to leave. I'm not going to lie but it's been quite hectic for me to come back and forth from my own office to Ashton's office. I mean why can't I just simply work at one place. I need to talk to Adrian and do something about this. Because Ashton has seriously started getting on my nerves. That man seriously just finds excuses to come to my cabin for no apparent reason, say a few words then leave. Then he would come and beg me to go out for lunch with him. When I refuse , he
Grace's POV After I had called 911, the ambulances were sent immediately and the police came in time to do their job. One of the cops had addressed me to confirm if it was me who had called 911 and asked a few questions which I answered. He then handed me an extra umbrella they probably had and went on with taking care of the scene. Moved away from the scene, closer to my car to look at tha damage that had been done. That bonnet was completely trashed. This would surely cost a fortune. Especially since it was literally a brand new car Adrian had just bought for me. I sighed and turned back to have a look where the accident just happened. A lot of bystanders had crowded the place but then I spotted someone I thought I was mistaken for. Was that Mr Knight standing there? What was he doing here at this time? Just to be sure, I lightly called out for him. But it came out more as a question. "Mr Knight?" He slowly turned around to finally face me. But the look on his face got me worri
Grace's POV I felt my heart thudding against my ribcage as Ashton silently drove us back to his house. I was freaking confused. What the hell just happened in the past few minutes. Ashton Knight kissed me. HE FREAKING KISSED ME ! AND I FREAKING LET HIM!? Why did I do that? Oh my God! How was I going to ever face him after that? Shit I should've pushed him away. I should have even slapped him. But why couldn't I bring myself to take those actions? Why the hell did I stay freaking still!? I'm finally going insane. I was so indulged in my thoughts that I didn't even notice Ashton pulling up the car into his garage. Wow. I really was lost that I didn't even keep track of the time. But what amazed me more was the beautiful mansion in front of me. A total dream house anyone would want to be in. It was a three story, black, gray and white mansion. The tinted glass windows gave it even a more luxury look. I knew he was rich but this house was literally just so pretty. I noticed a few more
Grace's POV I woke up to the sun rays beaming lightly upon my face as my ears filled the sweet chirping of birds. Stretching my arms out, I groaned, letting my body relax. Damn, I had a good night's rest surprisingly. Slowly looking around, I let my surroundings finally set in, only to realize I was not at home. Shit, how did I forget I was at Ashton's. This made my mind immediately wander off to yesterday's events. When he confessed to me. "I love you Grace. I am completely and undeniably in love with you!" He spoke, caressing my cheeks while looking deep into my eyes. I stayed still. The sudden shock made me speechless. Nothing came out of my mouth. He saw me gaping and therefore decided to break the silence. "Go to sleep," he whispered, moving forward to let his lips touch my forehead to give it a sweet peck. "You are tired. We will talk tomorrow. I promise." With that he moved off the bed and covered me with the blanket. "I'll be next door ok. If there is anything , don't h
Author's Pov It was Macy's birthday and also the day Adrian decided to propose to her. And so for that he had arranged a grand birthday party for her inviting all of their friends and some business associates who were close. It was supposed to be a surprise for Macy and Grace was given the job of secretly bringing her to the venue without her getting the hint that something was going on for her. But Macy being Macy obviously knew that the so-called clubbing Grace was forcing her to go for was none other than a surprise birthday party for her. Otherwise it wouldn't be a coincidence that Grace, who would never go to a club in her life, would force and drag her to one that too exactly on the day of her birthday. Not being a party pooper, she went with the flow and did not let anybody get the hint that she somehow smelled the initial purpose of the plan a few days back and wouldn't ruin it to let Adrian and Grace surprise her for her birthday. But what she didn't know was the other surpr
Author's Pov Grace quickly went to the bathroom to lighten up her bladder, unaware of the foot steps that had followed and were waiting for her in the corridor. After doing her business she quickly washed her hands before drying them and opened the door to step out when she saw a figure waiting for her outside, blocking her way to exit. "What the..." She exclaimed, eyeing up the figure, her eyes widening after finally realizing who it was. "Mr, Worthing?" Her mind recalled the only time she had met him in the restaurant when she was working for Ashton and had refused to take money to betray Ashton for him. "Long time no see darling," he smirked, stepping in the bathroom slowly making her back away from the door. The door automatically shut with a click and her heart rate sped up. "What are you doing here?" She fired immediately. "Now it's not hard to keep tabs on where Ashton Knight is. And you being in the same place is just a cherry on top," he took a cigarette out from his
Ashton's pov My heart pounded in my chest, as the doctor continued examining Grace. An oxygen mask was instantly placed on her face to make sure plenty of oxygen reached her lungs after being deprived from it for so long. Every fiber of my being was consumed by a seething anger that threatened to boil over. Grace lay motionless on my bed, her face pale and fragile. The doctor monitored her vital signs and provided the support she desperately needed by giving her some injections. My hands clenched into fists at my sides as I fought to contain the overwhelming surge of rage coursing through my veins. The scene replayed in my mind like a nightmare on an endless loop. I clearly remembered the moment of seeing her lifeless, sprawled on the bathroom floor. And after the CPR, she came back to consciousness for two minutes before passing out again in my arms as I carried her out. With every passing second, my fury intensified. I couldn't forgive myself for not being there to protect her,
