Christopher’s POV“Chris! Chris, are you okay? Babe! Sit down.” I could hear Ivyrose talking to me. I could see her worried expression as well as Dr. Keller’s. “Chris?” Ivyrose’s touch as she caressed my face burnt me. My mouth was so dry I couldn’t answer her. The pounding of my heart made it impossible to breathe properly and I felt dizzy. I sat back down and told my mind to calm down, ordering my lungs to remember how to breathe.7 to 8 months means 2 months ago. Could she have gotten pregnant after that night? No. It could still be my baby. So what if she didn’t get her period after that night with him. She’s on birth control shots. There's a fifty percent chance it’s mine. No. More than fifty because they only had sex once and I gave her a morning after pill the next day. Snap out of it, asshole. Breathe. Focus. Breathe. Rose needs me.I must’ve looked stupid staring into space while trying to silently talk to myself. Convincing my mind there was no reason to doubt this pregnancy
Ivyrose’s POVI couldn’t take it. I rudely ran out of Doctor Keller’s clinic, leaving Christopher who I thought would follow me. I stopped right outside and leaned on the door. My chest hurt so much I winced and hit it with my fist, forcing it to stop constricting. The doctor’s secretary ran toward me and handed me a tissue. I told her to tell Chris I wanted to be alone for now and she went in. Not enough blood was flowing to my brain, making me dizzy as I ran past my bodyguard who tried to sit inconspicuously at the waiting area. He stood up and followed me. I stopped running when I reached the elevator and when I got to the lobby, I saw the hospital’s huge gift shop and had an idea; I was going to go away for a week. I was going to escape reality and just relax. My bodyguard, who took the stairs and had caught up with me, was about to follow me inside the shop so I told him to wait right outside. I chose the first sunglasses I could get my shaking hands on. It was a good thing the
Ivyrose’s POV I woke up to Hailey’s loud snores. I was so tired from yesterday’s events that when we arrived at the Charles de Gaulle airport around midnight, I told the cab driver to take us to the cheapest but still a clean and cozy hotel. A few hours later I found my head resting on the softest pillow and closing my eyes. The sun’s rays were eager to greet me behind the curtains of our small one bedroom hotel room. I took a deep breath while I sat on the bed and stretched my arms up. This is going to be a good week. I’m not going to stress. I’ll know if there’s a baby or not when I get back to reality. I said to myself as I got up and walked over to the curtained glass doors and opened them. I inhaled the fresh air as I closed my eyes and lifted my head toward the warmth of the sun. “If you are there inside me, little one, please know I’m doing this for you. I need to relax and not cause you any more harm. I love you so much, but this will be the last time I’ll talk to you thi
Ivyrose’s POVI took a bite of my steak au poivre and remembered how much I love French food. Ricardo kept staring at me while he waited for his order while Hailey’s eyes were fixed on him as she chewed her food. My mind was going crazy. I didn’t understand why I wanted him to be with us. All I knew was that he felt familiar to me and I felt comfortable with him for some reason after telling him about Amadeus’ death. Then I thought of what Christopher would think if he saw me eating lunch with another man when I told him I wanted to be alone and I felt sick with guilt. He’s not Garreth. He’s not supposed to be familiar. Ask him to leave. Tell him you’re uncomfortable with him staring at you. I kept repeating these words in my mind but the truth was, I felt some strange pull towards him and I loved the way he was staring at me. The waiter finally brought him his lunch and the three of us ate in silence until Hailey finished first and started entertaining us with her expectations of Par
Ivyrose’s POVHailey looked gorgeous for her date with Hudson. It was already six in the evening and I finally convinced her that it was okay if she went out with him. I fixed her hair as she sat in front of the vanity mirror and talked about what a bad friend she was for leaving me all alone in a hotel. “Just come with us, please boss?” Hailey said, tugging my bathrobe’s sleeve. “There’s no way I’m going to be a third wheel, Hailey Parker. Besides, like I’ve told you a million times, I’m fine and I’m too tired to go out. We had a fun day and I just want to get some reading done and then go to bed early.” I lied. I didn’t have a book to read nor was I tired at all. “Really? You’re super sure it’s totally okay for me to go out and leave you here?”“Yes. Now go. You look perfect and Hudson seems like a really nice guy. Just be careful and don’t go anywhere where no one can hear you scream if he does turn out to be a serial killer.”“Ivy!!!” Hailey groaned and I laughed. “You’re the w
Ivyrose’s POV "This is heavenly." I said through a mouthful of pizza. Ricardo chuckled before taking a big bite of his first slice. "I know," he said, chewing loudly, making me laugh. "Remember this place when you and Christopher come back here." "Definitely." I said, feeling guilty because halfway across the world my fiance had no idea where I was or who I was with yet here I was enjoying another man’s company. I took a long sip of my iced tea. “Can I ask you something?” “Shoot.” Ricardo said, taking another bite. “I…Uhm…Can you please not mention Christopher or my dad or anything about New York anymore?” “Can I ask why?” “No.” “Hmm, okay then. I promise.” “Thanks.” I said, smiling at him, glad he didn’t insist on knowing my reasons. We ate in silence for a moment before I decided to talk first. “So how many boxes of this pizza can you eat all on your own. Be honest. Be honest.” Ricardo laughed and shrugged before answering. “The most was… I think five boxes. But don’
Ivyrose’s POV Foxworth Mansion: 11 years ago “Mom. It hurts so much, mom.” I said as the pain creeped its way around my abdomen and all the way to my back. My legs were wide apart and a doctor was telling me to push. “I know honey. I know it hurts, but push. Bear the pain now and you’ll have him forever.” Holding her hand, I did as she told and pushed whenever I felt a wave of contraction. I felt my son come out, but didn’t hear any crying sound. My heart pounded as I asked them why he wasn’t crying. I felt so tired, but I kept talking until someone put an oxygen mask on me and another nurse injected something on my arm; Moments after, everything slowly started to blur. The last thing I remember was telling them to give my baby to me before blackness eventually took over. I woke up to the sound of someone sobbing beside me while squeezing my hand. The moment I opened my eyes, the brightness made me wince and I closed it back again. “Dad. I’m so tired. Where is he? Where’s my b
Milan, Italy Ricardo’s POV I looked into the man’s eyes. His dilated pupils told me he was afraid despite the words he was shouting— “Fuck you, Ricardo! I’m not afraid to die! My brother will avenge me. He will blow your brains out, you filthy—.” I would never know what kind of filth I was because the man’s mouth blew up in his face the moment I pulled the trigger of my .357 Magnum, the adrenaline rush from taking someone worthless asholes life making me feel alive. Seb, my right hand man wiped the splattered blood on his cheek. “Clean this up and make sure to burn every inch of him.” he said to the four men who stood behind us. “Yes, boss.” They chorused. I looked at Seb and chuckled. “I still think this is a mistake Ricardo. You’re just asking for war.” Seb said. I scoffed at him and walked out of the mansion’s murder room, Seb right behind me. “But you love wars, Seb. Didn’t you say the other day you miss killing your enemies? And called me a lovesick lunatic for going to
