Chapter 15

Lexi's pov

Pacing around my room I kept wiping my eyes with the cuff of my sweater unsure of why I was feeling so blah.

Not understanding any of what was causing my literal soul to ache. I was shaken to my core.

Turning to the soft knock on my door I shuffled to it and opened it to see Nolan holding the store bag with the dress Nathan had purchased for me.

“Why are you crying?”

Shaking my head I told him I didn't know.

He stepped inside and pulled me into his arms.

“It's because Nathan is gone and you feel it deeply inside yourself,” he muttered as I buried my face into his chest.

“No, I don't think so,” I growled while he laughed lightheartedly.

“Oh come now Lexi, surely you have longed for someone like Nathan to sweep you off your feet,” he chided.

Giving him a deadpan glare I shook my head.

The feeling of dread was lifting as I furrowed my brow at him.

His smile was intoxicating and I grinned back at him.

“How come you are so much nicer than him?”

His smile faltered and he sighed
