The great misunderstanding

Anamika got to the hospital, looking drained and shattered. She received a call from Nurse Beth to hurry over to the hospital after she was dragged out of the Wales mansion.

Although Anamika had no idea why the nurse needed her so urgently, her instinct told her it was something she wouldn't be able to stomach.

A distance away from her brother's ward, she could hear loud cries and those voices were her mother and sister's. Anamika took to her heels and barged into the ward to meet the cold lifeless body of her little brother.

Her legs froze by the door as memories ran through her mind.

In the family of four, only Martin treated her like a family would. Even though he was just 13, he was able to get their mother and sister to stop bullying Anamika whenever he saw them getting on her nerves.

Martin promised her he would survive this... He told her that no matter what happened, he won't die because there won't be anyone else to protect her, but why… Why did he have to leave? Why didn't he fight back? Why?!

Anamika broke down in silent tears as she looked at the dead body of her brother getting wrapped up in white sheets.

While she was holding back her wail and allowing the quiet tears to fall, her mother ran in front of her and the next thing she did was to send a resounding slap across Anamika's face.

"Paah!"

Anamika didn't flinch. It didn't even seem like she was slapped.

"How thick is your skin? After you have killed your brother, do you still have the heart to be here?" The woman barked at her like a mad person.

Anamika shifted her gaze to her mother but said nothing. She was in no mood to have an altercation with her.

"It was your fault," the woman continued. "You were the reason the hospital had to suppress it with treatment instead of carrying out surgery a long time ago!"

Anamika's tears flowed even more. Her mother was partially right.

The surgery was long overdue, but the hospital wouldn't carry it out until the money was at least one-third of the fee.

"I– I was looking for the money for his surgery." She said almost in a whisper. Those words were rather for herself. She was convincing herself that she wasn't the cause of her brother's death like the accusation her mother was throwing at her.

Her sister ran forward and pushed her back. "Get out! Leave! We don't ever want to see you again, go away!!"

"This was how you killed my husband, and now, it's your brother. Anamika, you're a cursed child! Get out of here!!"

Seeing that Anamika wouldn't leave, her mother grabbed her by the hair and dragged her out before locking the door from the inside.

The doctors and nurses just stood there and did nothing to interfere.

Anamika didn't wait around. After she was pushed out, she didn't know what she was doing but just knew that her legs were moving her somewhere.

Along the corridor, one of the ward's doors happened to be slightly ajar. Just as she was about to walk past, she heard voices and one of the voices sounded familiar. What stopped her in her tracks was that, the people seemed to be discussing her brother.

"... Brain tumor... Yes, her brother is dead like you instructed."

"When?"

"Just now."

"Mn… that should bring her out of hiding. Keep an eye out for her."

Anamika gasped but refused to believe they were talking about her brother. To be sure, she walked towards the door and peered in.

She was right! It was the same man! The stranger she slept with!

Anamika forgot that he mustn't have known it's her, let alone have anything to do with her brother because, she was dressed like Amelia and also had on Amelia's face.

The stranger was changing out of his hospital gown with a blue–haired young man standing beside him and helping him wear his clothes.

Her hands flew to her mouth and tears clouded her vision. She wanted to barge in and ask them what her brother did wrong, but her legs wouldn't comply.

Just after that thought flashed past her mind, the blue-haired young man passed the man a black gun which the man she slept with secured around his waist. Then sharply, the blue-haired young man raised his head and looked towards the door with seriousness.

"Who's there?!"

Anamika's eyes widened. Immediately, life returned to her legs and she took to her heels and ran into an elevator that was close by. Even her high heels did nothing to beat her speed.

By the time the blue-haired young man got to the door, Anamika was gone.

"She left," the man said without raising his head from buttoning his shirt.

"Yes, Master." The blue-haired young man replied before pulling out his phone to make a call, probably to ask their people to apprehend the 'spy.'

"Don't bother, she's not a threat." The man said nonchalantly.

"How can you be so sure?"

"Her footsteps didn't sound like an experienced person's. She is clumsy."

"Oh, so that's it. I still have a lot to learn. Thank you, Master," the blue-haired young man bowed slightly.

Silence reigned in the ward for a few moments before the man asked.

"About last night, find out who that lady I slept with was."

"I already did, the CCTV footage was wiped out." The blue-haired young man said.

"Have Johnny take care of it."

The blue-haired young man hesitated for a moment before asking, "Master, are you not worried? I feel your brother sent that lady into your room last night. A report came to me that after you were attacked, he spent the night in room 101, a few doors away from yours."

"He wouldn't send a virgin." The man answered dismissively.

The blue-haired young man gasped. "Forgive me for peering into your thoughts, she was a virgin? Then does that mean you…"

"Mn," he replied while folding his long sleeves to rest below his elbows.

The blue-haired young man smiled faintly, "Yes, Master," then he proceeded to make the call. "Johnny, Master wants you to recover a lost footage..."
