Chapter 23

It has only been a month since the announcement was made, but Kayla and I are feeling more and more like this is our pack. We love everyone here and they love us in return. Our warriors have learned a lot of new techniques for fighting, and Gamma Josh has been having them practice, with us trying to stump them with magic. At one point, I used my powers to split the earth shallowly beneath them, and they learned a technique for using that to their advantage.

As time went on, Kayla and I could feel our strength growing. We are now able to use our magic all day and feel exhausted at the end of the day. We can also tell that the strength of our magic has grown exponentially. I was able to throw lightning at a boulder as big as an SUV and it exploded into pebbles. Gabriel laughed at that and said, "Well, we needed some more gravel for the driveway. Feel like doing a couple more?" I laughed and said, "sure," and I struck three more.
