CHAPTER 61: Think Of Your Child

Luna Verona’s POV:

After the brief meeting with Sir Wilson and Beta Thane, I needed rest and retired back to my chambers. But while walking back, I stopped at the intersection of the hallway, my gaze shifting towards the West Wing.

The corridors of the West Wing seemed colder than usual as if the shadows themselves had deepened with the setting sun. It gave off an eerie feeling, heavy with an unspoken warning. Yet, I pressed on, each step echoing ominously against the stone walls.

I turned the corner and was met with familiar-looking white doors, but none of them interested me more than the one at the far right corner. My legs seemed to have a mind of its own as I reached the room, its double doors carved with intricate sigils, one only I could see.

I pushed them open, stepping in as the wood groaned in protest, and I was greeted by the sudden flare of the candlelights

Each candle stick roared to life, circling the room like sentinels. The once dark

CHAPTER 62: The Hurtful Face-off Maverick’s POV My eyes scanned the scattered paper littered all over the floor, as their damaged form seemed to be mocking me. I clenched my fist, my breathing heavy as my rage shimmered just beneath the surface. I slammed my fist against the wall, the impact doing nothing to alleviate my fury. “Natalie,” I growled through gritted teeth, storming out of the chambers and into the hallway. She was the one responsible and now, I knew what she did minutes ago by destroying the console of the computer wasn’t a mistake but intentional. I shouted, “Natalie, get here NOW!” My voice echoed off the stone walls, loud enough to make every pack member within the vicinity and earshot freeze in shock. And there she was, just a few steps ahead of me, her figure unmistakable as she walked, her back towards me. I knew she heard me, but instead of stopping at my command, she walked even faster away. “Come back here. Now!” I barked again, my voice laced with a

CHAPTER 63: Bile Pyra’s POVI sat down on my bed, thinking of how I would go to the hospital. I had no chores for the day, thankfully. Resting my head back on the pillow, I realized I was unarguably weak today. It has been a rollercoaster for awhile as the pack has witnessed a lot of unambiguous events. Since the matter with the peacemaker, the pack has become eerily quiet as everyone felt a glooming shadow hovering over them. To each their own, indeed. But gradually, I believe the pack will return to its bustling activities. As I lay on the bed, I suddenly felt a wave of nausea hit me, bile rising from my throat. I grimaced as a violent stump rose from my chest causing me to clutch my chest. I felt the acidic taste of bile burn the back of my throat. I swallowed deeply, trying to cool it with some saliva as my body suddenly felt heavy.I shook my head, the room tilting to the side slightly and the edge of my vision blurring. I forced myself to sit up, breathing heavily to calm mys

CHAPTER 64: The Fool In The Game Luna Elodie’s POV One week had passed since I sent Mr. Connor to investigate and gather more about Pyra, and my patience was wearing thin. The silence from his end felt suffocating, and it gnawed at my nerves. I leaned back a little in my chair, letting my eyes wander over the piece of art I’d drawn earlier. It was simple yet detailed to perfection—a sketch of the crescent moon encircled by flames. The same flames that symbolize the era of the crimson wolves centuries ago. A flame that represented their uniqueness and strength, while the moon represented their resilience. I traced a finger over the delicate lines of the painting, sighing. “Resilience,” I murmured to myself, picking up a paintbrush and adding the last touch to the painting. “But at what cost?” A soft knock at the door interrupted my thoughts. “Come in,” I said, I waited as the door creaked open, and the scent of Connor wafted into my nostrils. “Any news?” I didn’t

CHAPTER 65: Two Distinct LinesPyra’s POV:The silence in the lab was thick like a fog I couldn’t wade through. I glanced up at Veronica who worked opposite me, her hands steady as she mixed the potions, and her brows furrowed in concentration. The rhythmic clink of glasses and the faint bubbling of liquid in the apparatus were the only sounds in the lab, yet they felt deafening in the stillness.Veronica has begun making a medicine for my sudden illness, but she didn’t want to tell me what it was, saying until she was 100% sure. I looked down at the portion, turning it slowly to recognize the ingredients. I should’ve been able to name every ingredient, every herb, every mineral she used. It was my craft and domain after all. But as I stared into the swirling liquid before me, for the first time in my life, my mind drew blank. The mixture shimmered with an iridescence I couldn’t place, a mystery even to me.“You sure that’s for me—“ I wasn’t able to complete my sentence as my sto

CHAPTER 66: Can't Breathe Pyra’s POV I panicked. Why wouldn’t I? Two lines. I couldn't breathe. My breathing hitched in my throat. “No, no. This couldn’t be…” I gasped, shaking my head and body as if the sheer denial I emitted could alter this reality. “I-I can’t be. No!” Two lines. Two. I backed away from the sink, my back hitting the door as my legs trembled beneath me. What would this mean for me? For him? Just the thought of his name sent a fresh wave of nausea crashing over me—not just a physical one, but raw emotion. I choked on a sob. “Pyra?” Veronica’s worried voice came through the door, this time firmer than before as I heard footsteps approaching. “Pyra, is everything okay? Please talk to me.” Her voice was accompanied by a light knock on the door. Breath, Pyra. Breath. I opened the door to the bathroom slowly, just enough for her to step in. She stared at me, her eyes darting from my pale face to the test strip lying on the edge of the sink. She need

CHAPTER 67: An Unexpected FacePyra’s POV:The end of our shift couldn’t come soon enough. My breathing was laboured as I and Veronica raced out of the hospital, embracing the cold evening air as it hit our faces. We had been brainstorming, spending most of the day weighing our options—whether Veronica should write a formal request to Luna, asking permission for me to stay with her and her family. It seemed like it was the only way forward instead of staying back in the pack if ever the information about my condition got out. Everything about the plan to request Luna’s permission was great, but there was one looming problem—her father. Would he even agree to this arrangement? It was a question that hung between us like a storm cloud refusing to clear up. The elevator finally chimed and the doors opened to the bustling grind floor, and as we hurried out, my shoulder collided with someone—hard. I stumbled back, almost falling if not for Veronica catching me just in time. I looked up

CHAPTER 68: Shreds Of Clothing Natalie’s POV“Get out of my fucking way!” I snarled, shoving a maid to the side without a second glance. The icy wind from the open window bit at my skin as I stormed through the hallway. My chest heaved, rising and falling with so much pressure that I thought it would burst. I kept on replaying the confrontation I had with Maverick in my mind. “How dare he think of leaving me?” I spat, my voice trembling with rage. My hands balled into fists as my pace quickened. It wasn’t just him, no, it was more—it was her!My eyes narrowed as her image flashed in my mind, that wretched ginger freak. Even in her death, she still tormented me, taking the heart of the man I loved. If only there was a way to kill her not once, but a million times, I would do it without hesitation. “FUCK!” I shouted at the top of my lungs, unable to conceal the whirlpool of anger that surged from within. All my voluntary actions centered on the experience I had with this Seer. Madraya met my gaze; hers’ was unflinching, never staring away for even a second. “Have you met her before?” The sound of Mr. Hargrove’s voice shattered the silence of the house, and I turned to see him looking at Madraya, his eyes holding confusion. Madraya gave a cold smile, one that spoke of something that could shatter my very existence. “Let’s say we had a little hope—““Okay, Dad.” Veronica interrupted Madraya, facing her father. “We just came back from a long day in the hospital and need much rest. CHAPTER 120: The Realm In-between Third person’s POV:Pyra stood motionless with widened eyes as she took in her surroundings. Before her stretched a boundary unlike anything she’d ever seen before—a vast, shimmering expanse of mist that pulsated like it had a life of its own. It was neither dark nor was it entirely bright, and right there Pyra knew she was no longer in her realm. This was the realm between life and death. The entire atmosphere was heavy with faint whispers and cries that came from everywhere and nowhere, as if tugging at the edges of her sanity. The unnatural breeze swayed her crimson hair gently as if forcing her to stay, but how could she? She wasn’t even sure how she’d ended up here. With a heavy heart, she prepared to take a step forward into the mist and the never-returning land of the dead, but a voice stopped her. “And where do you think you’re going?”Pyra stiffened, turning sharply towards the source of the voice, her amber eyes scanning but seeing no

CHAPTER 119: Slipped Away Maverick’s POV:“Sometimes I don’t just understand you, Maverick. You just act like… like, urgh,” Natalie groaned in annoyance, gripping her hair like she was about to pull it out. I crossed my arms, leaning against the soft chair prepared in one of the hospital’s waiting areas, far from the private area where Luna Verona and other pack members waited. Natalie's words trailed off into an irritated groan. Her hands flailed in the air, a gesture she always made when she was too frustrated to form coherent thoughts. I remained silent, my expression blank for she was the least of my worries now. “See!” She snapped, pointing a finger at me like I was some unruly child. “This is what I mean but you say I am a damn talkative. You just stand there! No reaction. No movement. Nothing! It’s like talking to a damn wall, Maverick!”I sighed, my mind trailing back to the event of today as Rhella was rushed to the hospital. CHAPTER 118: Nobility, Light And Strength Luna Verona’s POV: The sterile scent of antiseptic burnt my nose as the waiting area felt suffocating, the walls pressing in with every agonizing second that passed. I paced the large space, my heels clicking against the cold, tiled floor. I was too restless to sit still and wait. My hands trembled, clenched into fists at my sides as numerous thoughts went through my head. What if there was a complication? What if I lose my daughter when I only just found her? What if I lose my grandchildren if the cesarean section fails? What if I lose them both? What if fate dared to take them away from me before I could hold them all in my hands? No, I shook my head, dispelling such vile thoughts from my mind. I needed to think positively. My legs carried me back and forth, the rhythm doing nothing to soothe the storm inside me as my chest tightened, each breath more shallow than before. How long would they take? CHAPTER 117: Brewing Third person’s POV:The realm of Lunaria was filled with an uncharacteristic solemnity, the lands once bathed in the joyous sound of its people, now a shadow of their former self. And within Lunaria, the FireHeart pack stood at a standstill, as every pack member waited with bated breath. Every shadow that danced across the great expanse of the woods, every whisper of the wind that swept through the pack’s grounds, carried the same singular message: Something monumental was happening; the birth of the next descendants of the Crimson bloods. This was history in the making, for the FireHeart pack has waited for decades upon decades for a new crimson to be born and now, it’s finally occurring. This was no ordinary birth—it was a legacy being born. For centuries, the bloodline of the FireHeart Pack carried within it a unique and ancient power, one said to be blessed directly by the Moon Goddess herself. The torches lining the narrow staircase flickered weakly, casting eerie shadows on the walls. This was it. This was to my satisfaction. A time to finish up what I didn't start. The hidden chamber of judgment where sins were being punished especially now that I couldn’t be stopped by Maverick. I do appreciate his care for the pack members, but sometimes, to handle your pack well, one has to have an iron fist. Not everyone deserves kindness nowadays. I smiled, as things were finally looking a little good. There has been no information on the wolves that attacked the pack yet, but at least she was alive: Maverick’s mate. A painful scream from within the dungeon shattered my trail of thoughts. „Uhh, couldn’t a man hand

CHAPTER 115: The Crimsons’ Incoming Pyra’s POV: How dare he? He had no right to point that out! That was so low of him.The air in the throne room was thick with tension, Maverick’s defiance still ringing in my ears over and over again. I had tried to ignore it, but his words cut deep, not because of their content, but because of their audacity. He was still the same as before, daring and authoritative even in my pack. The ministers sat frozen in their places, glancing nervously between me and him. Even Beta Thane, the always and perfectly composed man, one who rarely faltered, seemed unsure of what to do next. I glared at Maverick, his strong posture unyielding as he stood before me. I should be used to this, for I grew up under him in the pack but now, standing in MY court, in MY territory, challenging MY authority before my pack? It was a line he should have known better than to cross. My glare intensified but as I watched him, there was no smirk, no signals to indicate he was

It was the necessary risk that had to be taken or else the realm of Lunaria as we know it, might never be the same again. “It’s dangerous to associate with humans.”“They were the reason for the blood war that occurred decades ago.”“How dare he associate with those vile creatures.”“We’re strong and united, we need not the help of those power-hungry humans.” The voices grew louder, a cacophony of accusations and discontent rippling through the room like an impending storm. The Ministers of FireHeart Pack weren’t holding back, their disdain for the human world evident in each and every word they uttered. “They’ve always sought to exploit us, to turn our gifts into their tools of war!” One minister barked.“And now, an Alpha brings their veil influence back to our realm? Everyone had dressed impeccably for the meeting, their attire a statement of preparedness. We had taken a short breakfast, though no one had truly enjoyed the meal as it seemed to be tension-filled, the kind that seeped into the skin and settled in the bones. My gaze swept across the large expense of the room, taking in every detail, every subtle shift of emotion. Natalie was beside me, her usual composure nowhere to be found. She bit her lips ever so often, her fingers twisting the edge of her sleeve, the fabric fraying slightly under her restless grip. And from this dense darkness, a figure emerged—a shadow among shadows. Dressed and coated completely in black, she blended perfectly and effortlessly into the Moonless night.
