Anthony had everything planned out. He was tired of Mabel and he finally wanted to take her out.
She would die without him having to touch her and he would take down Christian. The two biggest problems in his life would be out for good. It was like killing two birds with one stone.“Keep an eye on her to make sure she doesn’t mess up the plan. Use force if necessary,” Anthony instructed his son.“With pleasure,” Kelvin responded with a devious smile on his face. It had been a long time since he had fun with Mabel and he had missed it a lot. After Mabel left her father’s study, she headed straight to her room. Thankfully, she hadn’t unpacked yet and so she didn’t have to go through the stress of packing her bags once again. She was however met by someone when she got to her room and that was her stepmother.Mabel took a deep breath as she knew that the woman didn’t have any good intentions coming there. “Mother,” she called.Claire turned to look at her and in her hands was the takeout container she had eaten last night. “How did you get this?” her stepmother asked, her voice laced with anger. She had hidden it under her bed which meant for her stepmother to be holding it, the woman had searched her room hoping to find something incriminating.Mabel knew her stepmother had intended to starve her and finding out she had eaten was a huge slap to her plan, hence the angry look on her face.“I ordered it before I came home. It was one of the reasons why I was so late in returning home last night,” Mabel lied.Claire smiled and Mabel instinctively took a step back as, knowing her stepmother, she knew the next thing Claire would do, would be to slap her. She was the family's punching bag and they didn't hesitate in utilizing her."Don't worry, I won't hit you today as I am in a good mood," Claire assured her as she threw what was in her hand away."You've heard about the task you've been assigned to do?" she asked, and Mabel nodded."Now between me and you, we both know you're going to fail at the task and miserably as well but here's the fun part Anthony refused to mention," she paused and looked at Mabel who was listening to her with her utmost attention."Christian Romero isn't interested in getting into a relationship and he has an infamous reputation for ruining any woman who tries to make him fall for her,” Claire informed Mabel and she smirked as she watched the colour drain from her stepdaughter’s face.“If you don’t get Christian to fall for you, you risk losing your grandparents and on the other hand, if you try to make Christian fall for you, then he could kill you. What will you do?” Claire gasped.“It was your idea, wasn’t it?” Mabel asked Claire. There was no way her father would come up with such a full proof plan. Her stepmother, however, was a different story.“Wow, it’s nice to see you’re smart,” Claire praised Mabel. “I’ve always wanted to get rid of you and very soon, I will. Good luck, you’re going to need it.”She then proceeded to leave but as she got to where Mabel was, she stopped and turned to face her, and before Mabel could process anything, a heavy slap landed on her face.“When I make a plan to ensure you starve, make sure you starve, you bastard!” she growled and left the room.Knowing that she would be frustrated if she stayed home, Mabel quickly showered and got dressed, after which she left the mansion. “Have you seen Rufus?” she asked one of the guards when she got outside and didn’t see the driver around. The guard didn’t consider her important enough to answer the question and so, he kept mute. Seeing that the guard wasn’t going to give her an answer, she left.Taking a taxi, she decided to go to any coffee shop she could find just to get some peace and quiet and the driver took her to the nearest one. There was however an issue when she got to the door as she was stopped from entering by a worker. “I’m sorry, ma’am, but you can’t come inside as we are not open yet,” the worker informed her.Mabel looked at her watch and frowned a bit. Weren’t coffee shops supposed to be open by this time? She wondered.“Alright,” she however said and turned to leave. After walking a distance, she heard someone yell after her. When she turned, she found the same worker who had told her the coffee shop wasn’t open running after her.“What is it?” Mabel inquired.“We are open, you can come in,” the worker panted as she was out of breath from running.“What? You just said you weren’t open,” Mabel frowned.“My apologies for that. We are now open,” the worker repeated. Not wanting to go through the stress of finding another coffee shop, Mabel decided to go into the coffee shop. There was no one else in the shop and she wished it would stay that way as she wanted peace and quiet.“Can I get a cup of coffee with two teaspoons of sugar,” she asked the worker.“Sure, please have a seat,” the worker said, and she left. As soon as she was seated, Mabel brought out her laptop to search for the Christian Romero guy she was supposed to seduce.“You’ve got to be kidding me,” she heard an annoyingly familiar voice just as she finished typing the words, ‘Christian Romero.’The colour drained from her face when she turned and found the crazy man from the previous day glaring at her.‘Are you fucking kidding me?’ Mabel cursed under her breath.*****When Christian woke up the next day, he was more calm and composed than the previous night but that didn’t mean he was going to let the lady go scot-free.He immediately got himself ready for the office after which he left his house. As per his custom, his driver drove him to the coffee shop his mother owned, where he usually got coffee every morning before going to the office. When he however got there, he found someone else already in the shop. This made him frown a bit as he had given strict orders that no one should be allowed in until after he got his coffee in order to avoid dealing with anyone. In case he didn’t show up by a particular time, the coffee shop was free to open. He looked at his watch and it wasn’t even yet time so why was someone already in it.Without wasting time, he made his way over to the woman who didn’t know he was there as she had her back turned to him. As he got closer, he realized that there was something annoyingly familiar about her. His eyes went o
‘It would have been better if I stayed at home and dealt with my family than having to deal with him,’ Mabel muttered to herself as she walked on the sidewalk. Not only was her mood ruined, but she didn’t get her coffee and now she wasn’t in the mood for it anymore.Wanting to get her mind off what had just happened, she brought out her phone and proceeded to call someone she hadn’t heard from in four years, her grandparents.Just like the last four years when she had tried to get in touch with them, the call didn’t go through and the guilt hit her once again as she was the reason why her life was in danger. If they had just abandoned her after the death of their daughter, they would have led peaceful lives. After her father made her leave the country, her grandparents kept in touch with her and sent her money for her upkeep. They were careful with it but somehow, her father found out and he was unhappy with it. He said they were just spoiling her and that she wouldn’t be able to s
Christian looked at his father and then at Dorian, he was sure they were planning something devious as they often plotted against him. "Oh yes, I almost forgot to tell you. I was going through the applications and I found the perfect person," Reginald informed Christian. He grinned inwardly as his son wasn't going to like it at all but maybe a woman who could take Christian head on was what his son needed.'You're about to go for the ride of a lifetime, you asshole,' Dorian muttered under his breath. The rest of breakfast went by with them discussing other light-hearted issues and Reginald having spent some time with his sons, retired to his room. “What twisted game are you playing this time, Dorian?” Christian immediately fired at the latter as soon as they were alone.“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Dorian feigned innocence. “It is unclear to me as to how you knew about her when you weren’t there last night and today, somehow, you knew she was going to be at the cof
“You know you’ll get into trouble with my family right?” Mabel asked as she turned to look at the car that had been following them since they left the Deville mansion.“Wouldn’t be the first time, let’s go,” Rufus shrugged as he started to make his way inside.“Have I told you how much I love you?” Mabel yelled after him.“That’s cute but I’m not interested in getting into a relationship with you,” Rufus retorted and this made Mabel smile.Even though Rufus said he would help out a bit, he didn’t however leave until they had arranged and cleaned everywhere. By the time he left, it was already dark and Mabel was beyond exhausted. Without bothering to find out who Christian Romero was, she climbed her bed and fell asleep.**** “Hmm,” Mabel groaned when the sun hit her face. She immediately used the duvet to cover it. However, she found herself unable to go back to sleep for some reason.‘Shit!’ she suddenly cursed and jumped out of her bed. She turned to look at the time and cursed on
Christian was deep in his thoughts when he heard a knock on his door. He didn’t bother to answer it as if it was one of his employees, they wouldn’t bother him and well, Dorian would just let himself in.The person knocked again and Christian like the first time, didn't bother to answer it as he wanted to be left alone. His new Executive Assistant was supposed to be coming in today and he was already late. That alone made Christian resolve to fire him once the person showed up.The door slowly opened and he assumed it was Dorian so he didn’t turn to acknowledge his presence. He was mad about his new Executive Assistant coming in late on his first day and talking to Dorian would just make him madder. He however heard the sound of heels but he still didn't turn until he heard the woman speak. ‘What?!’ He asked himself when he heard her introduce herself as his new Executive Assistant. Why was his Executive Assistant a woman despite specifically saying he didn’t want one? He slowly tu
"Has she arrived yet? Why is she late on her first day?" Reginald sighed as he walked around Dorian's office. It was the first time he had been to his company in months and it was all because he wanted to experience the chaos that would occur after Christian found out who his new Executive Assistant was."Maybe she changed her mind after finding out she’s going to be working for Christian. I know I would if I was in her position,” Dorian said mindlessly as he worked on his computer. The fact that Dorian didn’t seem bothered about the issue irked Reginald a lot. He then walked up to Dorian and hit the back of his head. “Why aren’t you excited about this?” “Because I know your son. Plus, I have a lot of work to do and you’re disturbing me, Dad,” Dorian answered and his words earned him another hit from Reginald. “You’re just as annoying as your brother,” Reginald chided, wondering how he had been able to put up with both of them for so many years.“Even if she comes in, Christian wi
Christian walked back to his office after his conversation with his father. The old man was crazy if he really thought his threat would have any effect on him. Even if Reginald fired him, his mother wouldn’t allow it to stand and so, he had nothing to worry about. However, as soon as he entered his office, he saw someone waiting for him. It was Mabel and she had a smile on her face. “What the hell is going on?!" He asked. "The head of the Audit department dropped these files for you, sir," she said as she pointed to some files on his desk. "What are you doing here?" Christian reframed his question since she was too stupid to understand his first question."I'm your Executive assistant, it's my duty to be here sir,” Mabel answered coolly as though she hadn’t quit a few minutes ago. "In addition to being annoying, brazen, and violent, are you also crazy?!” Christian asked.“I don’t quite understand, sir,” Mabel continued to feign innocence. "First you say you have no interest in
“Why not stop lying and tell me who you really are because we both know that was your driver? In case you’ve forgotten, I also have one and I know how the relationship works,” Christian said concisely.“Does your driver call you by your first name?” Mabel quickly came up with a defense.“No, but neither does an Uber driver, you're going to try a lot harder. I’m not as dumb as you,” Christian deadpanned. Did she think she was dealing with a child?!It was obvious that the man who was with her that night, was a driver which would mean her family was at least a middle-class upper family and the way she shot at him with precision showed that she had been trained. Knowing how some socialites like to train their children in martial arts and defense, only solidified his doubts.“Like always, you're mistaken. The man who was with me was an Uber driver sent to pick me up. We talked and bonded on the way before I stopped to help you,” Mabel tried to convince him.Christian had a lot of questi
