We were all watching as markings, writing, appeared all over Imeela’s skin. Janina and Hesthes walked closer to her, examining what they saw. There seemed to be some recognition of whatever it was.

“This is a very old dialect,” Hesthes said, tilting her head to get a better angel. “It’s a protective incantation from Hecate herself.”

“It’s also a power amplification. ‘When my phoenix rises, its blue flames will vanquish’ is what this part says,” Janina added.

My eyes tracked up to the mark that sat upon her neck. A blue phoenix.

Holy fucking shit. This was the woman that Hecate had chosen as her warrior. There was absolutely no doubt that Imeela would be one hell of a warrior.
