(Karis's pov)

I could not understand why Miranda would bother to beg me. She probably thought I was old Karis, who easily could be bullied and forced to do her bidding.

She clenched her fist by her side, it likely felt degrading to her to beg me. Emma must be in a bad situation, from my guess, and I didn't feel the least sorry for her.

"John please escort Mrs Reynolds out," I instructed him, leaving Miranda there, ignoring her pleas that only ruined my mood.

I wondered where Xander must have gone. He must be a bit pissed that I snuck away with Skyler, the urge to see his pissed face made me happy, but unfortunately, he was not around.

Miranda resisted being thrown out, but I couldn't believe it. "Karis, you can act smug for now, but I promise you it won't stay this way." She cussed out, but I ignored her completely.

My attention was drawn to my phone, Skyler was calling. I answered the call immediately, seeing no reason to ignore it.

My heels clicked ag

(Xander's pov) The loud baring music played in the background, the air was filled with the stench of alcohol and cigarettes but that was expected since this is a fucking club. Proxima Centauri, this was the biggest night club in town and it was owned by Ivan. On the surface it was a regular club but in reality was the base of underground deep Mafia activities but that is a story for another night. Tonight it was just a regular club. My so-called friends were seated in the VIP area in the gallery that oversaw the regular floor. Without a doubt our table gathered a lot of attention, our faces were not popular but it was unforgettable. Especially Ivan flashing a flirty grin at the girls at first glance it was obvious he was the Playboy here and definitely a bad influence on Benji the youngest one. Benji was a cheerful guy but not necessarily a Playboy but it didn't mean he was not a flirt. This was meant to be a fun night but it was far from that for me. I just could

(Xander's POV)The music was very loud and I was not enjoying it in the least way. I fucked up big time but too stubborn to accept it. "Hey charming," a brunette chimed by my side. She was not bad in the eyes, but to me, she looked plain. The Brunette seemed very young. My guess is she was 18 at most. I ignored her because I couldn't afford to be called a paedophile. I was never interested in stuff like that. I brushed past her, and my sharp grey eyes scanned the crowd, searching for someone to dance with. The dare was to dance with someone without thinking about Karis so I have not lost the dare yet. I need to find someone that looks nothing like Karis, ginger or blonde, preferably. There I spotted her; she looked to be around 24. From her eyes, you could see she was an experienced woman who had seen a lot completely different from my little red, whose eyes still sparkled. She felt my gaze and looked in my direction. She was surprised at first, probably stunned at m

  • Escaping my heartless billionaire husband    129 - Birthday morning

(Karis's pov) That night, I could barely have a second of sleep; Xander didn't return all night. My eyes were dark, and my head was slightly aching. I didn't understand why I felt so disturbed like something bad happened. My eyes glanced at the space beside me that was completely cold to my touch, reminding me of the reality he didn't come last night. A long sigh left my lips as I rolled off the bed. My head was spinning like mad. Knock, knock. My head started ringing when I heard the loud knocking sound from the door. "Who is it?" I groaned, dragging my legs to the door. It was like I was having a hangover when I didn't even have a tiny bit of alcohol. "Sorry for waking you up but there is something that demands your urgent attention." I heard Deborah's voice strained voice from outside the door. My brows furrowed with deep frown lines. "What is it exactly?" I asked her as the door creaked open. My eyes fell on Deborah; she had panic evidence in her eyes,

(Karis's Pov) Talk about being slapped by a reality you didn't want to accept. Bertha gave me her phone, and I scrolled through the DM, my face getting more pale each second. This shouldn't be shocking to me but yet I really could not comprehend why this was happening. "Bertha, what is it? Can you explain Better?" I asked with my voice shaking. Bertha's gaze softened, and she reached out to grab my hand. "An old friend of mine said he spotted Xander leaving a club last night with a mysterious lady he could not recognize. Since he is aware that we are friends he decided to trail Xander until they got to a hotel. He thought something felt off about Xander." Bertha explained. I glanced at the picture. I didn't want to believe it was really him; from the angle it was taken, it was blurry and hard to recognize the man and lady, but I knew deep down it was Xander. The lady was hard to recognize because the camera was primarily focused on Xander. My hands on my skirt

(Karis's pov) I cried in Bertha's arms until we got to the ground floor. No questions were asked, she just let me pour out my heart. Why did it hurt so much when I expected it? "Everything will be alright." She tried to assure me even though we both knew that would never be the case. Earlier, I left the estate in Betty's car, so she was the one driving while my eyes were on the window, just watching the image of our environs blur away as we drove past them. "So what next? Are you heading back to the De Marco estate?" Bertha asked me, her gaze was on the road as she drove. I did not even care where she was driving to and let her just drive me away from that hotel. Since she didn't get a reply, she continued talking. "You can stay with me if you can't face him again. My family villa is large enough for the both of us." She was indeed disturbed by my eerie silence. "Drop me off at the Crest Towel. " I mentioned not taking my eyes away from the window. There was a hole in my he

  • Escaping my heartless billionaire husband    132 - Hypnosis

(Xander's Pov) My head was aching so badly it felt like splitting apart. What the hell happened? I never get hangovers when I drank my ass off in the past. The sound of light footsteps caught my attention but my head was killing me too much to open my eyes and see who. If I had bothered seeing who it was, that would have saved me a lot of trouble. I felt someone clinging to me, so I naturally thought it was my little red, but something about this stop felt off. This place didn't smell like home or my little red. I also could not remember how I got home. My brows furrowed as I slowly opened my eyes despite the horrible headache that was killing me. ' Where am I?' Those were the first questions on my mind because I didn't recall where I was or how the hell I got here. A bad feeling took over my gut as my heartbeat dropped to my stomach, and my eyes slowly travelled to my waist, where someone was clinging to me. Strawberry blonde hair, you got to be fucking

  • Escaping my heartless billionaire husband    133 - I Couldn't Do it

(Xander's pov) The car pulled over at the Sheraton hotel instead of driving straight home for the estate. When I asked Karis why we were taking a detour she said it was because of how late it was that it would not be safe to drive so far away. It was understandable, but she should have just called Sam or even John to come pick us up. Most importantly, why did she leave the estate without her bodyguards? "We are here, I have already booked a room." She chimed excitedly. Her excitement sent chills through my spine. Regardless of how strange everything was and my warning bells ringing over and over in my head, I still followed her bed. I would never say no to my little red. The lift to our intended floor was quiet, Karis held my arm tightly and kept on smiling brightly as she glanced at me from time to time until the doors slid open. The hallway was eerily quiet because of how late it was. The only footsteps echoing were our footsteps. Karis arrived at a door, 1467; something ab

(Xander's pov) The room was in an awkward mood; Karis could not believe my words even though I was in belief. I was a very sexually active person and this was the first time I could not get it up. And Karis could effortlessly turn me on but today was just strange. No matter how badly I wanted to fulfill Karis's every wish and make her feel good in ways she could never imagine; if my body was not cooperating, I just couldn't. Something was weird from seeing the imposter to Karis. My head was hazy, and I was dead drunk, but that was weird because I didn't drink up to what would normally make me drunk. How did I leave the VIP section and get on the dance floor? There were so many questions running through my head.? My thoughts were drawn back to Karis. My words hurt deeply her. She bit her lower lip between her teeth with her doe hazel eyes bidding with tears. "What do you mean by not in the mood? Don't you want me anymore?" She cried, I felt bad for hurting her but

  • Escaping my heartless billionaire husband    258 - I am not that weak

(Karis's pov) The message was mysterious, and it left me in a dilemma. I was torn between telling Xander. I wanted to tell him, but the number warned Me about telling him, which left me in a difficult situation. I could not risk anything happening to Val. We still had no idea where my children were or my stepmother and sister. I stood silently in front of Xander's bedroom. It was pretty late and I couldn't get any sleep after the call. Xander returned back to the estate pretty late a few hours ago. I reached out to knock on the door, my knuckles hitting on it periodically. "Xander," I called out trying to catch any sound from the other side. There was no answer. "Are you in?" I knocked, asking out loud, but there was still no answer. After a bit of contemplation, I decided to open the door. Soft creaking sounds echoed as I made my way inside the dimly lit room. My eyes darted around and there was indeed no sign of Xander. It felt like I stepped into a time

  • Escaping my heartless billionaire husband    257 - Guilt

(Karis's pov) The room seemed to have had a sombre atmosphere; for the first time, I saw a side of Xander I could never have imagined. "I never wanted things to turn out like that, but I was an obnoxious jerk, and I still think I am." His voice felt drained and he seemed completely powerless. This was the truth I always wanted to know but it put me in a state where I didn't even know how to react. "Don't blame yourself, Xander, it was an accident." That was all I could say hoping it could lessen the burden. From the way Xander spoke about it there was lingering regret he felt. Xander probably blamed himself for everything, but there was no way he could have accepted the girl, and that single rejection caused him a lot. "It's my fault; Skyler was right that night; I should have been nicer to Amelia even though I hated her for the way she treated Sky. I should have tried to reach out, but I didn't, and it cost me my sister. My actions killed Alessia, and it still ha

  • Escaping my heartless billionaire husband    256 - Same pain

All it took was one miscalculation, a wrong turn to happen, for everything to come crashing down. Alessia successfully got past Skyler, a smile etched on her lips. She was so close to the finishing line. Basking in the feeling of victory, Alessia didn't see it coming, and by the time Skyler or Xander saw it, it was too late. Alessia’s car lost control, her tyres slacking off the slick road. She lost control, her vehicle spinning toward the edge of the unfinished bridge ahead. Skyler’s heart stopped, and Xander watched his world end before him. He could not do anything to stop it. The car drove off the overhead bridge, falling onto the train tracks below. The sound of metal crunching. Sparks flying. Alessia’s car flipped and tumbled down. The horror was not over as the loud sound of a far-approaching train horned. Xander stopped the car and rushed down to help her. His heart was hammering fast, his feet moving on their own. Alessia was knocked unconscious, unawa

"Of course, I care about you. Everyone has been worried sick, and worse of all, I can't get a hold of Xander either." Alessia grumbled; both Xander and Skyler were giving her a hard time. "Are you here for Xander or me?" Skyler asked, "for the both of you. You guys have to stop this lifestyle of illegal racing. It's dangerous." Amelia argued, making Skyler laugh. The racing was the least danger around Xander. Did she have any idea one of Xander's friends was a fucking Mafia heir? "Unfortunately, I am not in the mood for a lecture, Alessia. If you want to talk to your brother, find him. I respect you as a sister, Alessia, know your boundaries." Skyler coldly said, walking past Alessia to his car. "You should stop doing this, your mum is worried." Alessia tried to reason out, but her words fell on deaf ears. Skyler had already driven out. This didn't reduce her determination. Alessia knew she had to help him. The reason Xander had been on the edge lately was because of

His world crumbled, unable to accept the scene that lay before him. She was not joking when she sent that text. Skyler staggered backwards, bile rising in his throat. "No… no, no, no." He stuttered as He rushed to her side, shaking her, calling her name, but it was too late. She was long dead, and still, in the end, she only thought of Xander. "Please come back; I love you even if he doesn't, Amelia, please answer me." His voice broke with his face pale and drained He cried. He hadn't cried in years, but Amelia made him cry. Was his love not enough wasn't he enough? If he had confessed, would she have accepted? She was truly gone. Tears kept on burning and rolling down his eyes endlessly, rage twisting his gut. And then, amidst the heartbreak, another emotion took root. Hate. Hate for Xander. He was the only person he could blame. ****** A couple of hours later, broken like a lifeless doll, Skyler walked into the night. His feet could barely move, but he h

  • Escaping my heartless billionaire husband    253 - His biggest regret

The air seemed to have gone still. Skyler heard Amelia clearly, and it felt like his heart was stabbed a thousand times over. He wondered if she knew all this while but deliberately ignored his feelings. A smirk graced Xander's lips, " Bold of you to confess in my front that you played my friend all along to get to me, Amelia. What does that make you?" Xander asked, bending over to her ear to whisper. Amelia's grip on her bag tightened. Did she say the wrong thing, but she was honest. "I am someone who genuinely likes you. I fell in love from the first day I saw you drive to the faculty in the car park. I understand you more than you..." Amelia kept on spouting complete nonsense that continued pissing Xander off. He didn't have the time for her rubbish. "If you know me well enough, you should not. I don't do relationships or love. I only fuck for fun, and trust me, even if you were the last girl available, I would never fuck that dried-up pussy off yours. Take your

  • Escaping my heartless billionaire husband    252 - Feb 14

    This is based on my fiction so the location are based on imagination and not accurate to the actual Oxford University.********* There was a park close to the cafeteria, the sun was slowly setting, and Skyler was walking Amelia towards his car. They just finished a study session, which he paid her for, claiming he needed help because of the classes he missed when Skyler was even way better than her. He just enjoyed their study sessions because he would hear her voice go on and on. Her accent was a bit funny but he still loved it. People tend to do stupid shit when they are in love, and Skyler had Amelia in his heart since his freshman year, but she was anerd that loved her books more than people. Amelia chuckled, hearing Sky, then smiled lightly, making her blue eyes sparkle. The way her dirty blonde curls bounced and her eyes sparkled was always breathtaking it made every minute with her worth it. "There is something I have always wanted to do, and Tonight is perfect;

Thanks for reading (✿^‿^) ******** Back at the De Marco estate, Karis was still in a state of shock. She explained her best saying she had no idea about how she got married to Skyler. Luckily, despite Xander's rage, he listened to her. Sky Link headquarters were in France. As Much as Karis wanted to get on the first flight back, she could not when her children's whereabouts were unknown. The best she could do was make several calls trying to understand what was happening. To her dismay, it was real. Xander looked into it, and it turned out that she actually got married to Skyler 3 years ago when they moved to France. It was authentic and registered; she had unknowingly signed a marriage certificate without knowing it. What even made their marriage more legit was the fact that the hous

  • Escaping my heartless billionaire husband    250 - Gone too far

(Skyler's POV) I sat in my dim study, waiting. The low light and the soft glow of the minibar did nothing to ease my bad mood. I had been waiting for a few minutes, and every minute only made my irritation grow. They were taking forever. I lit a cigarette and took a slow drag, watching the bitter smoke curl upward. My thoughts were a jumble of frustration and anger. There was a faint sense of achievement after all things were still going according to plans. Finally, I heard the door open, and footsteps approaching. Someone had arrived.I looked up sharply, feeling my anger spike. "Why did you take so long? I fucking hate to be kept waiting," I asked, my voice rough and impatient. The intruder hesitated, fumbling with her words. I could sense the nervous look in her eyes as she tried to explain. But I was too upset to listen. Every minute of waiting had only deepened my irritation, and now, sitting there in my study, I felt no patience left. I could feel her tension behind me.
