13. Paying Mistake

When Max arrived at home, the first thing he asked was Gabriella.

"The woman is awake, Sir. But, she looks like out of her mind. She keeps crying and screaming so, I have to lock her in the room,” the butler explained nervously.

"She hasn't eaten yet?" Max asked with a crease at his brow.

"Not yet, Sir." 

The man let a sigh out of his mouth. "Would you prepare some food for her? Take it to the room in about 15 minutes."

"Yes, Sir."

While the butler rushed to the kitchen, Max slid into the room.

As soon as the door was opened, the girl who was hugging herself in the corner of the room began to tremble with fear. She continued to push her body backwards even though she was caught by the wall.

Max's heart suddenly felt so empty. He had never experienced that feeling, a feeling that tore his chest and forced hands into tight fists. With slow steps, the man approached Gabriella.
