NARAH'S POV

“You're mine!” The words replayed in my subconscious. Like a broken record, it went on and on and on.

As we drove back to the city centre, Zander was talking, and I was listening without comprehension. There was this smile that refused to leave my face and a fluttering feeling in my heart.

Alpha Van loved me. He loved me as Reina, and that love still pulsed through our bond as Narah. He loved me either way. How is that even possible? Jolts of electricity coursed through my body at the thought. It was unbelievable.

As Zander, Isolde, and I stepped into the hotel lobby, the bustling sounds of the city enveloped us. The bright lights and chatter felt worlds away from the quiet solitude of the Woodwick's territory.

“You two can go in. I have someplace to go,” Isolde said. “Zander, the car keys.”

She held out her hand for the keys. Zander tossed them to her, and she caught them effortlessly. She waved goodbye and left. Neither of us asked where she was going; we simply strutte

GINA'S POV“Why don't you confess and get this over with?”“Confess about what exactly?”“You know what you have to confess about. Don't play dumb.”Voices! The voices in my head were going wild. Voices in my head? No, they're not in my head. It was me and a voice just on the other side of the wall. It's a f**king voice on the other side of the wall—a voice I had been speaking with beyond the damn wall. The air was thick and stale. It smelled like torture in here, and the voices of the tormented seemed to cry out to me. I sat on the cold, uneven floor with my back pressed against the stone walls. My hands were pressed tightly to my ears to prevent the voices from getting into my mind, but they were relentless and somehow managed to get in.Why was all this happening to me?“Gina, you're not going to hold out too long, you know?”“Shut the f**k up!” I screamed at the empty room, the sound bouncing off the walls and jabbing straight to my heart like a f**king knife.“Murderer! Murderer!

NARAH'S POV“How's it going with Gina?” Liora asked, her eyes glued to her cell phone screen, the glow casting a soft light across her face. The rhythmic tapping of her fingers was a constant in the charged silence of the car.I glanced at Chris through the rearview mirror. He smiled thoughtfully, brushing his hair back with an ease that opposed sharply with the tension in the car.“Honestly, it’s bad,” he replied, the corners of his mouth still curving upward, as if the situation amused him. “They’ll think she’s mad.”“That's because she is mad,” I said steadily, refocusing my attention on the road ahead. “She and her mother are alike.”The car rattled over a pothole, and I gripped the steering wheel tighter.“You are definitely right about that,” Chris said.“Doctor Rowan is dead—twice. And now Chris Stevens is born—twice,” I murmured, a hint of sarcasm in my tone as a small, satisfied smile graced my lips.My brother Chris was alive. I had only mourned the loss of the real Doctor R

LIORA'S POVAs we left the woods, the scene around us shifted from the haunting stillness to the bustle of police activity at the site where we found the deceased Doctor Rowan.Whatever power Zander wielded, it had certainly proven useful. I wondered how he had managed to direct the cops to that location and what he even told them.Narah asked Chris to take the car while she caught a bus back to the hotel. I chose to follow Chris, compelled by a longing I had never fully understood—a yearning that felt both reckless and thrilling.“Did you know what your mother was like?” I asked Chris, breaking the silence that enveloped us.His eyes, steady on the highway, flicked momentarily toward me before returning to the road. A broad smile spread across his face, and I could see the memories of his past, particularly of his mother, dancing in his mind.“She was more than amazing. She was great… super awesome,” he replied. It seemed words weren't enough to describe her. That was something I cou

NARAH'S POV My mind refused to process the shocking information at first; It was utterly unbelievable. How could the same man Anakiyus had worked for be the one who had given Liora to him eighteen years ago?Eighteen years ago Ankaiyus had started searching for the Moon jade, causing chaos wherever he went, all for a gem that was in Alpha Van's possession.“He betrayed his Pack exactly eighteen years ago when he said I was sent to him. He left me with a woman named Stella and would often visit. He used to lead the rogues even before he became one,” Liora said. “When his wife died three years later, he murdered some people and was banished.”Since the gem could resurrect, why did he need it even before his wife's death? He was never the one who needed it to begin with; his need for the Moon jade only grew after his wife died. The weight of the revelation pressed down on me, a suffocating haze of confusion and dread that enveloped my thoughts like a thick fog that refused to lift.I w

NARAH'S POV The long drive to the Woodwick's Pack territory made matters worse for me. Why did it have to feel so endless? The constant replaying of the phone call swirled in my mind, and I couldn't help but think: would he be alright? My heart raced as I imagined the worst—Alpha Van struggling for breath, the urgency in Kacy's voice echoing in my ears. “You don't have to worry too much about him,” Chris said over the line. “It's just the effect of the enchantment. Just like his seizures. It'll get worse from time to time until the enchantment wears off or he breaks free.”“Why is it taking so long?” I asked, tears threatening to spill.“The enchantment is really strong. Whoever enchanted him is powerful.”Gina! The name ignited a fire within me. I'd make sure she understood the consequences of her actions. I bet she didn't care about Alpha Van’s pain. She must be laughing and enjoying the whole scenery. Why did I love him so much? I never intended to form such a bond, but somewher

NARAH'S POV “Who's it?” Alpha Van asked.“Van, it's me,” a female voice responded. I recognised who it was at that instant. “It's Corolla,” she finished and knocked once more.I… for a moment felt nothing but pure embarrassment, forgetting everything else. Quickly, I stood up from the bed and began to put on my clothes as fast as I could, while Alpha Van just slipped on a pair of black shorts and a white polo from his closet.“I'll be right there,” he replied, waiting for me to tuck in my shirt, which I did roughly, then gave him a signal to open the door. The time we wasted only to open a goddamn door, I was pretty sure Corolla would be suspicious. Did she hear the ransacking noise and little jumps we made as we fitted into our clothes?“Wait, wait a minute,” I called Alpha Van in a hushed tone as he walked toward the door. “You should be in bed while I answer the door.”“Ahhh, that's right,” he agreed, nodding. Then he pecked my cheek and went back to bed.Immediately he covered hi

NARAH'S POV The small changing room was a cocoon of silk, lace and white fabric. There was enough space to move about and a large mirror stood behind me. The air was thick with the scent of fresh fabrics and sweet scented air freshener.“Reina, is that you?” the woman asked shakily, her voice trembling more than her hands.“I'm–I’m Narah,” I stammered.Realisation seemed to dawn on her face, and she shook her head. “Oh!” she exclaimed. “I'm so sorry. You just look so much like my cousin, Reina. I'm Dahlia, I'm to assist with your dress fitting.” “Okay, nice to meet you, Dahlia,” I replied, smiling.I swallowed hard, fighting the tightness in my throat as I began to undress. Dahlia helped me fold my clothes and hang them at the corner of the room, her movements swift but careful.“Gosh! The resemblance is uncanny,” she said, closing the little distance between us.“Is it?” I muttered, trying to keep my voice steady.“Yes, it is,” she said.A wave of nostalgia washed over me as she co

NARAH'S POVWhat if something bad had happened there? It was obvious Liora and Isolde were in danger and I needed to save them.My heart pounded heavily out of my chest as my feet slammed against the cold, tiled floors, each echoing step blending with the distant thumping of music and the eerie screams that reverberated in the air.I shouldn't have let Liora or Isolde go in there alone. It would be my fault if anything happened to them. What would I tell Zander if something happened to his sister? What would I tell Anakiyus if Liora got hurt? The corridor stretched on before me, narrow and dimly lit, shadows clinging to the walls like a sinister mist.I finally reached the door to the main room, and suddenly there was quiet. The music that had been vibrating and the eerie screams that had engulfed my mind a few seconds ago all seemed to have stopped now, replaced by a deafening silence.“Liora, hold on. NARAH’S POV“Don't let his words get to you, Narah.”I didn't know what was happening to my body. I gritted my teeth, trying to contain the emotions swirling inside me. Was it truly Beta Bernard's words that provoked me, or the death of Anakiyus and Nas?It felt as if an eerie flow of energy was coursing through my veins, fuelling my rage. It was a feeling I had never felt before. My muscles jolted, and my breathing hitched as my eyes shone like sunlight. Beta Bernard stopped in front of me, his expression shifting to horror. The only sound in the room was my steady breaths, echoing, amplifying the tension growing between us.The silence in my head… it shouldn't be silent, I thought. “You have just awakened your witch side,” Minsi said, her voice trailing off.Impulsively, I yanked the cuffs from my wrists. The chains shattered. Beta Bernard's eyes bulged out, as though they were about to pop. Before he could react, I stretched my hand outward, my fingers curling around his neck an

NARAH'S POV I batted my eyes until they opened to take in the view around me. The pain that had subdued my body earlier had completely disappeared, replaced by a sharper affliction around my neck and wrists.Silver cuffs clutched my neck, their metal links bound to a cage behind me, while the cuffs on my wrists were tied to the stone walls on each side. The metal was cold against my skin, biting and digging into my supple flesh.I had a limit to how far I could move. As discomforting as it was, I sensed dark magic flowing through the metals and dissipating into the cuffs. What's going on? I thought inwardly, panic creeping in on me like a haunted ghost. “It's cursed silver,” Minsi's voice cooed. Why wasn't she freaking out? We were literally shackled in a dingy room, and yet she spoke like someone enjoying a day on the beach, sipping margaritas or something. I recalled Ophelia being fettered by cursed silver. The pain I was currently experiencing was similar to the one I had felt

GINA'S POVConfusion gnawed at their faces. Liam and Miss Kiara still hadn't gotten over the shock of my revelation, and now I was sauntering toward the door, asking them to follow me. They stood frozen, unable to process what was happening.I turned to them. “Corolla is about to burn down the estate,” I hollered. “She's my sister, and our father is Beta Bernard.”“Oh, nice way to dumb the info on them,” Ria said sarcastically. I shook my head, acknowledging her point. Perhaps I could have said it in a better way.“What?” Chris gasped.“Gina, what are you talking about?” Liam asked. An anxious laugh escaped Miss Kiara's lips, echoing in the stillness of the room. “She's insane, as they said.”“I'm not insane,” I retorted. “My father and Corolla are the ones who actually enchanted Alpha Van after they made me poison Reina so I could take her place.”“But why?” Chris asked.“Ever heard of a gemstone called the Moon Jade?”Miss Kiara's face was blank, but Liam's and Chris's eyes widened,

  • Broken trust: Luna's awakening    CHAPTER 121: MY ALPHA, my sister, and me

GINA'S POVI stepped out of the bathroom, completely naked, water dripping onto the worn carpet. I tied up my hair in a white towel and my bare body with a plush, pink towel that lay on the bed.On top of the drawer across the room, I grabbed my pack of cigarettes and slipped one out. Lighting it, I sat down, took a long draw and watched the plumes dance in the air until they disappeared. Then I took a deep breath and exhaled.“Oh f**k this! Feels good,” I mumbled, relief washing over me.It felt good to have a long, hot shower. I already had that prison stench imbued in my pores. Now it was all washed away down the drain. Ria thought it was best to stay in the tub, but I just needed to stand, and drench myself from head to toe, that's why I opted for the shower.“I've never felt so alive,” she said happily.“I know right?” “Why did your father pick this old motel for you to stay in?”I propped myself up in my seat and looked around. The neon lights above the ceiling fan cast a gaudy

(Note: This chapter is a prequel to the last. The events occured before Narah left for the Moonlight Pack to look for Liora and before the Packhouse exploded) LIORA'S POV When the guard, Corolla, and her father left to see Anakiyus, I tried to free myself, but still couldn't get it done. It was as if each time I tried, I could feel my strength leaving me, with the cuffs and chains absorbing my power. This wasn't part of the plan. Getting caught was surely never part of our plan. How would we survive this? After waiting for a few minutes, Beta Bernard and two guards returned, along with Anakiyus. Where's Nas? I wondered. Anakiyus walked majestically in between the guards. It almost seemed as if he weren't a prisoner. A stoic expression clouded his face until he saw me. As his gleaming eyes caught mine, he offered a reassuring smile, and then it dawned on me that Anakiyus had not been caught; he had freely given himself up for me. I wriggled constantly, the metal links scr

  • Broken trust: Luna's awakening    CHAPTER 119: My wicked step-mother and Beta Bernard

NARAH'S POV Without saying a word, the guards led Bryan and me into the Alpha's house. As soon as we stepped inside, memories flooded my mind—how Gina and I used to run around, playing and screaming at the top of our lungs. “Wait here,” one of the guards commanded. “Let me call Luna Tauriel.’ As he went upstairs, I couldn’t help but move around the house, my heart swelling. Everything was almost exactly the same. From the thick, yellow curtains to the wall where Gina and I had measured our heights over the years. The guard returned and left with the one who had stayed behind. Then Bryan suddenly asked, “How did you know impersonating the Alpha's long-dead daughter would get us in?” “I wasn’t impersonating,” I replied, scanning the living room. Bryan's face contorted. Just as he was about to speak, Luna Luna Tauriel's sharp voice pierced through the atmosphere as she descended the stairway in a precise fashion, her gaze fixated intently on me. “Look who we have here. • Broken trust: Luna's awakening    CHAPTER 118: Beyond the Lunar bond

ALPHA VAN'S POVThe night of my lunar bonding ceremony with Reina was supposed to be one of the most joyous days of my life. I had anticipated the night with her, standing side by side, chanting our vows, and binding our hearts into one. We were fated mates, and I was glad she would come to know it when she saw me, but things took a turn for the worse. A witch enchanted me; I rejected Reina, and she died.I still found it hard to believe she's back. Narah was Reina. From the day I met her in the cafe, I knew she reminded me of Reina, but wouldn't it be sickening if I told someone that Reina, who had died a long time ago, was standing in front of me, alive and well?No wonder my wolf, Curtis, called her “mate.” He could even sense the mate bond between Narah and me more than I did. However, the enchantment we were under suppressed and clouded his mind, just like it did to mine.My father once read a book about reincarnation to me as a kid. He told me about his great grand-father, Mica

LIORA'S POV Memories of my capture in Luna Tauriel's room were hazy. The dog's frantic barking had ceased. It was then wagging and chasing its tail, running in circles. I was battered so quickly, and the next thing I saw was gross darkness. A few minutes after that, I felt my body floating, then I realized I was being carried away by a man. While descending the stairs, my eyes struggled to open. As they slightly parted, trying to observe the environment, I noticed Luna Tauriel and the man from her room standing at the top of the stairs. I didn't know his name or remember it even if I'd heard of it, but I recognized his face. That unmistakable resting bitch face. He had that same expression when he attacked me in the room as soon as he saw me. A guard was now carrying me on his shoulders, taking me to a place I didn't know, and I couldn't resist. I was too weak to do anything or even speak. Gina's wicked mother watched in awe as I struggled in vain. Suddenly, a familiar sce

NARAH'S POV My gaze lingered on Alpha Van as I spoke with Chris across Alpha Van's room.“I have to go to the Moonlight Pack, there's something wrong; I can feel it,” I said, worried.“I know, it's weird for Liora not to have her cellphone all day or contact us. She uses that thing like she breathes,” Chris remarked.I shot him a glance, a smile tugging at the edges of my lips despite the tension brewing inside me. He was right. Liora was addicted to that device.“I can't let anything hurt her, Chris. I don't want anything to harm her.”I meant every word I said. I hoped Liora was safe with Anakiyus and Nas.Chris nodded, his expression resolute. “I'll take care of Van, I promise,” he assured me. “He'll be awake soon. The poison had been in him for so long, I'm surprised he's even still alive. A normal person or any other werewolf wouldn't have been able to break free from that enchantment and would have died instantly from the strong poison.”My eyes drifted back to Alpha Van, my he
