Chapter 0012

I pretended not to notice him as he sat down, I continued helping a couple others at the bar when I motioned to Andy that he was the wolf Jacob warned him about, even though I could tell he sensed him the moment he sat down.

"What can I get you?"

"Actually I came to see her."

My eyes snapped up in his direction, his caramel eyes locked into mine when he smiled widely at me. I couldn't help the small smile that formed on my lips as I shook my head, finished mixing up a drink, handed it to my customer before sauntering over towards where he was sitting. I pulled my dress down a bit, for some reason this was the first time I felt as if I maybe wasn't wearing enough clothing.

"What are you doing here, and what would you like?"

His eyes roamed my body making me feel slightly self conscious before he looked back into my eyes, his head tilting to the side as he studied me in the dim lighting.

"A whiskey, neat."

I turned to grab the whiskey, pouring him a glass before going to push it towards him when he grabbed it, his fingers grazing against mine making my heart race for a moment before I took a deep breath, slowing it back down.

"As for what I'm doing here, they said this was the only club close to the town. I managed to get my tire changed and I just wanted to thank you, that's when I remembered you saying you had another job at a bar. Was hoping to find you since I didn't know where you were living, or when you worked at the diner next."

"I'm glad your tire is changed, does that mean you are going to be headed back out of town?"

He kept watching me, curiosity in his eyes, like he recognized me but wasn't sure as to why he did. He was making me nervous.

"Do you want me to leave Ellie?"

"Just feel bad that your vacation got ruined by a storm is all."

"Maybe I can finish up my vacation in town, unless I make you uncomfortable of course. Your eyes tell your thoughts you know."

That's when my heart began sputtering, I was lost, my body felt as if every nerve was sitting on its end, I wasn't able to breath through this to calm myself down when I felt Andy's hand touch my back.

"If you can see that she is uncomfortable, why taunt her?"

His words were sharp as he spit them out at Byron who quirked his brow at us.

"Be careful with your words, wouldn't want someone to bite out that tongue of yours would we."

Holy hell, he just threatened Andy, that's when I controlled everything, that's when Shayna and I saw fire making me growl, mistakingly. I watched as his eyes went wide, he sat himself back down slowly, relaxing into the stool he had been on.

"I knew it"

He whispered, I sat there staring at him when he looked between Andy and I.

"Never seen one of us with their kind before, let alone willing to protect them with such vigour."

"He's my friend. So is he."

I said as I nudged my head behind him, making him turn to see Jacob walking up behind him.

"You know it's glamour right, you don't truly trust them, they are using you."

They both laughed as I stood there, unable to speak.

"We don't glamour her, we trust her, she trusts us. You on the other hand, we'd be happy to get inside your head."

He bared his teeth, growling as some people started looking over towards us

I walked out from behind the bar, gripping his hand before pulling him off the stool, forcing him to follow me to the locker room.

"You can NOT act like that in this place, we don't get our kind here, ever, not in the two years I have worked here, I never have sensed our kind."

"Who are you, really? Because from the moment I saw you I felt as if I used to know you, but I never knew an Ellie, let alone a wolf with no scent at all. I take it you're using?"
