She blinked her eyes open and saw him in front of her. He looked worried as he stared at her. He was muttering to himself, “I knew this was a bad idea. Would she listen, no. Of course not. She probably thinks I am some dumb grunt who knows nothing. Well, I was right. This was not only a bad idea, but it was also a horrible one,” He hadn’t looked up from looking at the ground as he kicked the dirt with his foot, shuffling it around and creating a dirt cloud.
“You’re right,” She said softly. He looked up and stared into her eyes. He was trying to gauge her at the moment, t
Kit stood there next to him at the computer as she completed his last words. He was focused on logging in to the website for the grocery store that he didn’t see her confusion. When he finally logged on, he looked up and grinned at her. He pulled her down to his lap again and tilted her head so he could see her face. “What?” he asked her as he looked closely, she wasn’t smiling, and she had a wrinkle in her brow.
He held her there for what seemed to be an eternity. “Princess,” He said, but he didn’t even recognize his own voice. It was deeper and ragged. He looked into her eyes and saw the color had deepened, and she was breathless. “I. I.,” he couldn’t say more.“Mitsuhide,” she said softly.“Will you come with me?” he asked softly as he touched his forehead to hers.
The ride was silent. He had no idea what to say to help her, and he kept looking at her as he was driving stealing little glances her way every chance he got. Mitsuhide was just as lost as she was, but not in as much pain he thought. She stared ahead not seeing anything in the path, the seething emotions were coming off her in waves, and it was a sight he hoped he never had to see again.“Princess?” he said softly.
The stores in his area were packed as the two found out as she wanted to run into a few of them.“I never see this side of town,” she said with a smile. “At least not since I was a kid.”“Did you plan on coming back here?”
The peace was short-lived; however, as they left the house, she received a phone call that made her wander away from the men walking to the cars on the road and in the long driveway. She looked up to find Mitsuhide walking to the car to give her some space to talk.“Dr. Johnson?” th
Mitsuhide found that the best part of the past few days was waking up with a small body next to him, so the following morning when he woke up, and she wasn’t in the bed he was slightly confused. He looked over at the window and saw it was still dark outside. He looked at the clock and saw it read three am. He was wondering if it all had been a dream or nightmare when he heard something from downstairs.
Mitsuhide had his eyes closed with a cat with cream grin on his face. She was tracing the lines of his chest with her finger lightly, trying not to feel smug. He had followed her without question earlier, and that built up frustration he had felt during their shopping trip had burst as he had tackled her and pinned her to the bed. He wasn’t gentle in his taking her this time, he lifted his head and looked at the marks he had left on her. He felt like a teenager marking her like that, but he knew he bore some of the same marks on him as well.
When she woke up the next morning, it was just at daybreak. Her head hurt, and she felt numb. She had spent most of the night going from being content for a few minutes to sobbing hysterically. Mitsuhide took it all in stride being there right next to her the entire time. The only time he seemed off balance was when during the first episode, she had cuddled into his chest and told him those three words she had never spoke before. He looked stunned for a moment and then went back to comforting her any way he could think of. They both had to get up soon back with no energy she just rolled onto her side and felt the tears fall. S
