Chapter 2 It Has Begun
Raymond Sanders was a handsome and very attractive man, he has the charm and on top of all he has the wealth and fame. He very well knew that. He always felt invigorated having the knowledge of that fact.
Wherever he is at there are always women. Women who are always willing, no objections to hearing about his latest business feat or acquisition. He loves seeing them at awe. Not only that ,but it always a great pleasure for him that he can easily convince women of his interest to have them in his bed.
This time his sights are set on a woman with soft black hair .Her beautiful face was more pronounced by the make up she used or put by a professional beautician. The black dress clinging to her perfect body matches the black eyes. Very hypnotizing and alluring. But he has to behave himself, this party he was invited to isn’t an ordinary one. Wealthy and famous personalities are everywhere. He himself is not ordinary. He has to behave accordingly. His reputation is at stake. Eyes are on him, he can’t afford to be reckless or his political ambition will collapse.
He tried to approach the woman in a most casual manner and not revealing eagerness within him. He liked to act and play around women. They are for him entertainers. He never wanted boredom to caught up with him. He always have someone or something to occupy him.
They chatted most of the time but to no avail, he seem to feel that she is not interested with him. That is something Raymond cannot accept. They parted ways in a most civil way but deep inside him the disappointment is eating him up. He got to vent this anger to someone. He left the party soon after and went to a nearby bar.
There in the bar he found his victim. A drunken middle aged man, who can’t handle his alcohol. He was leaving the place and he followed him outside. He followed him a little farther until he had the chance to do what his evil mind wanted him do.
There in a dark corner he dragged the man and beat and kicked him until knocked unconscious.
After doing so, Raymond straighten his jacket ,feeling relieved ,went back to the bar smiling. He has this feeling of renewal like a rebirth, where all the burdens were lifted up from him and disappeared.
He arrived at his office at exactly 10 in the morning of the following day. He was looking out his office window, the sky is darken by thick dark clouds. The air is unsettled, wind is fierce , he can see thunderstorm in a distance and is approaching. It is like a warning of an upcoming disaster.
His mobile rang and as he reached it a thunderous sound came. A storm had hit the area. “yes” he answered the his phone as he glanced at the display, it was Oliver.
“ One of our lookouts spotted her 2 days ago” Oliver informed.
“Where?”
“ outside a shelter northwest of Central”
Raymond frowned not expecting the kind of location she could be. “okay. What time?”
“Past 4 in the afternoon.” Oliver replied.
“I believe you have her followed, haven’t you” he questioned
“She was followed as she was going around Central without specific destination. Only until about six in the afternoon when she entered the subway.”
“well...” Raymond is now feeling anxious.
“He lost her”
“God damn it!” he hit his desk of frustration. “How could he have lost her!”
“It was rush hour during that time, subways were crowded.”
For a moment both men on either side of the line remained silent. The silence was deafening and making them uncomfortable. They can’t shrugged the possibility that Meghan is watching them while all they can see was her shadow.
“Have you informed Lucas about this”
“Yes.” Oliver replied.
“So what are the plans?” he inquired
“Lucas suggested that we should put more men on the streets.”
“I agree. Do you know someone who can gather more information about her?”
“Yeah, I have that taken cared of.”
“You should be very careful with this operation, oliver, I don’t want my name getting dragged in any mess. You understand?” Raymond warned Oliver.
“You are not the only one affected by this, Raymond. Shit! We were all on it. I can’t wait to wring Meghan’s neck for good.”
The storm is getting worse . It is impossible to go out. The weather is fierce and not giving any sign of subsiding. They are trapped indoor. All they can do is wait . ....wait for a favourable weather. But waiting is taking forever , where the only thing that is certain is.. it will come and it will surely hit hard. Like a trapped mouse, he is helpless.
How does she looked like now? Oliver said that she is thinner ,short hair, and in rags? But looking normal afterwards.
Where have you been hiding all this time, Meghan? how’d you survive these years? What were you doing near a shelter and in rags?
Raymond gritted his teeth, he is so damn feeling real bad again. He wanted to go somewhere and unleashed this undesirable rage he feel inside. Damn this rain is getting in my way.
This was the worst thing about Meghan. Not only could she disappear for months or years but you never really knew who she was. Invisible, and then suddenly alarmingly visible. She was the most dangerous element in their lives. The only one who could truly threaten them. How could you be so slippery, bitch! When we get you ,I will take care of you myself! Out of inexplicable frustration, Raymond thought. I swear you will wish you were never born!
“We’ve got to get her this time, do you hear me, Oliver?” Raymond as he was in rage earlier over the phone.
“Why the hell do you think I phoned?” Oliver with same fury burning him like hell.
Chapter 3 The Mysterious CallIt was only until he is at his desk and seeing piles of papers that Detective Ian Murray realized that his precious holiday is over. It was a refreshing and relaxing being in the countryside for weeks. His only sister had just got married and he needed to attend the event. For the remaining days he explored their town and experience the coast of Nantucket. As he slump himself to sit, he saw William walking towards him. “welcome back, boss” waving his hand with another sheets of paper.
