38: A QUICK RIDE

DIEGO'S POV

The ride so far was quiet. It seemed Kitty was worried about something. I could smell her tension, plus her brows were creased, and she kept sighing every few seconds.

Maybe I should talk to her to relieve some of the tension, but I had a hard time doing so because she smelt like Mitch, and the smell was so strong.

Skyler, Mikey, and I all knew she slept with two wolves recently. Even though she smelt like sardines, her natural scent, she also smelt like soap. I could tell she had recently had a shower, so Mitch's essence was fading. But the rogue's scent was all over her, it was everywhere. She won't be able to get rid of it for a month.

But something told me that this rogue bathed her in as much of his essence as possible — like he was marking his territory. But why?

She sighed again, so I asked her, “Miss Katherine, are you OK?”

Her head turned to me. “Yes, I am fine. I'm just worried about my grandpa. Are you sure your friends can take care of him?”
