Chapter 25 - Ruined

Everything was ruined. Dinner was ruined. Our date was ruined. Honey's confidence in me? Ruined. I ran to the kitchen to find the potatoes had boiled away all the water and were burring in the pan. I threw it into the sink and turned on the water. As I filled the pan with water and listened to the angry sizzle. Just like our weekend. I had turned the meatloaf off earlier but left it in the oven to keep warm, so now I took it out and placed it on the stove. I'd wrap it in tin foil and save it for sandwiches later in the week.

I wandered back down the hall and listened to the conversations of the technicians processing the bathroom. I wasn't holding my breath that they would find much evidence. I'm sure the perpetrator wore gloves and unless the person left behind DNA like spit or a hair with the follicle still attached well... it just wasn't likely.
