Another Night

A round table was set on which Rosalie, Ryker, and Helena sat. The maid set the plates. Rosalie watched as Ryker pulled his mother's plate near and sliced her meat into small pieces. Lost memories resurfaced. He used to do that for her too as he didn't want her fragile fingers to exert force.

"How are you doing here, Rosalie?" Helena asked, gripping her attention.

"I am doing good..." she stated with a hesitant smile. She further added, "People here have started to accept me, I guess. I teach children in the morning and then attend meetings. In the evening I practice sword with Antonious."

Ryker picked a piece of meat and fed it to his mother and after that, he put one in his mouth. Rosalie wasn't surprised. Helena was too weak to eat on her own.

"Antonious?" Helena asked.

"Yes, he is my guard. A very nice person," a scoff came from somewhere. Rosalie ignored it and went on admiring Antonious much to someone's annoyance.

"He is a bloody traitor," Ryker piped in, glaring at Rosa
